On May 5th Foster Angels of Central Texas partnered with Child Protective Service’s PAL (Preparation for Adult Living) program to take 21 youth on the annual Port Aransas fishing trip.
The weekend got kicked off with youth meeting at Cabela’s to obtain their fishing licenses followed by an afternoon at the Texas State Aquarium. The youth were greeted with a Cinco de Mayo celebration for dinner hosted by Foster Angels and some of the boat captains. Bright and early the next morning, the youth set out on 12 boats with their fishing captains for a morning filled with fishing and dolphin watching. For many of these youths this was their first time on the water – let alone learning how to fish. One youth said “My favorite thing about this weekend is when I went fishing, and my first time getting on a boat.”
Everyone joined back at the Island Mooring Marina for lunch and then spent the afternoon playing on the beach. Then, the youth caught the Corpus Christi Hooks baseball game to end the night! The weekend was wrapped up with souvenir shopping and lunch.
