College Success

For youth who have experienced foster care, the path to a college degree can feel out of reach — but it doesn’t have to be.

“I’m a first-generation college student, and if I hadn’t gone to school, I honestly don’t know where I’d be. The state covers my tuition, but thanks to Foster Angels, I can take care of my other expenses and focus on my goals.”

Without a family support system, stable housing, or financial safety net, many students are forced to choose between continuing their education and meeting basic survival needs.

  • Only 50% of youth in foster care graduate high school on time.

  • Fewer than 20% of foster youth who graduate high school enroll in college.

  • Only 3% of former foster youth in Texas earn a college degree despite receiving free tuition.

At Foster Angels, we support all foster youth with critical college-related expenses that tuition doesn’t cover — such as housing, textbooks, and transportation — to ensure they have a fair shot at success.

In addition to this ongoing support, we offer a competitive Scholarship Program for qualified students to help them thrive at a vocational school, community college, or a four-year university.

    Financial Support

Covers education-related expenses not met by financial aid — such as books, housing, technology, transportation, and groceries.

  • Outline drawing of a person with two other people connected by lines, indicating a social or communication network.

    Mentorship & Support

Each scholar is paired with a mentor who checks in regularly, providing both accountability and encouragement.

    Life Skills & Career Coaching

We offer support with financial literacy, resume-building, and internship/job search skills.

This has proven to be a winning formula with a 60% completion rate among scholars.

“FACT made sure I was completely set up for college. They gave me everything I needed — sheets for my dorm, a mini fridge, school supplies — literally everything. I felt so supported and ready to start this new chapter.”
