The mission of Foster Angels of Central Texas is to improve the lives of children in foster care, ensuring that each child has his or her basic needs met, and to provide life-enriching and life-enhancing experiences whenever possible. Foster Angels works efficiently and effectively to respond to the daily needs of abused and neglected children through various program areas throughout the year. Since its inception, Foster Angels has assisted over 45,000 children and youth in foster care in Central Texas. 

Description

The Major Gifts Director will help grow and maintain Foster Angels’ base of individual major donors. This position reports to and works closely with the Executive Director and will also work collaboratively with the Communications & Partnerships Director and Program Director. The Major Gifts Director works externally to meet with individuals in the community and strengthen relationships that lead to greater giving. This is a unique opportunity to build a major gifts program at a well-respected and effective organization. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the Executive Director to lead a community philanthropy effort in developing and executing Foster Angels’s comprehensive fundraising strategy, which includes institutional and individual giving, and developing and stewarding relationships through regular communications, in-person and virtual engagement, and hosting funder-oriented events.
  • Creates and helps the Executive Director and other staff execute a comprehensive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategy in order to maximize donor retention, engagement and investment.
  • Maintain systems that track giving and the progress on donor fundraising goals, as well as executing on donor stewardship and preparing analytical reports.
  • Researches and assesses the potential of new major individual and organizational supporters.
  • Prepares for funder, donor, and prospect solicitation opportunities, schedules meetings, and prepares briefing materials in advance of meetings with donors and prospects.
  • Works with staff to provide logistics support for fundraising events and donor functions, including our annual luncheon.
  • Oversees work with the ED and accountant to ensure effective integration and reconciliation of financial and donor information.
  • Works in collaboration with the Director of Communications and Partnerships to ensure external communication engages with donor and potential donor audiences.
  • Engages actively in the organizational life of Foster Angels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; at least 7 years of directly related experience.
  • A track record of effective major donor fundraising for nonprofits.
  • Experience making and closing direct donor solicitations above $10,000.
  • Strong organizational skills and project management capacity and ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Experience handling logistics and planning for large fundraising events.
  • Experience motivating and managing volunteers.
  • Comfort with technology and development software for donor tracking.
  • Experience developing and analyzing financial reports, including budgets, revenue projections, and revenue tracking.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all other Foster Angels efforts.
  • Strong writing, editing, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to communicate with funders, donors and influencers.

Position Status: Full-time
Salary Range: $70,000+
